No, French people don’t eat croissants from the boulangerie every day! Instead, most French people will have des tartines beurrées ou à la confiture to dip into or pour faire trempette in a big bowl of café au lait ou chocolat chaud. Tartines are so much better than toast; they are long pieces of baguettes split in two and can be served fresh as is or as Tartines grillées. Children will often indulge in une tartine au Nutella! Coffee, of course, is strong and delicious, like Carte Noire, and often made in a French Press, served noir or au lait avec ou sans sucre.
Find la tartine au beurre et à la confiture in the picture! To practice your French, make a sentence with each picture, ask a question, etc… For example, “J’aime faire trempette dans mon chocolat chaud.“, “Pour le petit déjeuner, je préfère le café noir et un croissant !” ou “Tu prends 1 ou 2 sucres dans ton café ?”
Bon Appétit!
