Some series are worth watching again until new ones come along and some are just plain binge-worthy. I prefer real life drama, comedies, and action and not so much the dark gloomy ones so I listed just a few in this genre. If you are learning French there’s no better way than to improve your French than listening to the French language and watching a good French flick will help you tune your ear to the French rhythm and pick up new French expressions (That’s how I got exposed to English as a child by watching cartoons in English!)

Call My Agent / Dix pour-cent (2015-2021)
Call My Agent! / Dix pour cent – 2015-2021 – 4 Seasons created by Fanny Herrero with cast Camille Cottin, Thibault de Montalembert, Grégory Montel. In this French series we’re invited behind the scenes of a top Paris talent agency and their clients who happen to be the real live French celebrities playing themselves intertwined with their own private lives. The ending comes to a grinding unpredictable halt! For now season 4 is the end or La Fin, but who knows with the series’ popularity, a comeback would make a lot of fans happy.
lupin (2021)
Lupin – Dans l’ombre d’Arsene – 2021 – 2 Seasons ( 2 parts) – Comedy/Suspense – Created by George Kay and starring Omar Sy, Ludivine Sagnier, Clotilde Hesme. Lupin is inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin a fictional gentleman thief and master of disguise created by Maurice Leblanc in the 1900s. Charismatic and good plot with an unespected ending. Lupin Part 2 is anxiously awaited and scheduled to be released during summer 2021.
la revolution ( 2020)
La Révolution -2020 – 1 Season – Drama/Horror – Created by Aurélien Molas and starring Amir El Kacem, Marilou Aussilloux, Lionel Erdogan . In a reimagined history, a mysterious disease besets 18th century France, culminating in a brutal clash between rebels and the aristocracy.
vampires (2020)
Vampires – 2020 – 1 Season – Horror – Created by Benjamin Dupas, Isaure Pisani-Ferry, Anne Cissé and starring Oulaya Amamra, Suzanne Clément, Kate Moran. A Paris teen who’s half human, half vampire grapples with her emerging powers and family turmoil as she’s pursued by a secret vampire community.
inhuman resources (2020)
Inhuman Resources – 2020 – 1 Season – Crime – Starring Eric Cantona, Suzanne Clément, Alex Lutz. Alain Delambre, unemployed and 57, is lured by an attractive job opening. But things get ugly when he realizes he’s a pawn in a cruel corporate game. A very witty and heart wrenching series.
the hook-up plan – plan coeur (2018-2020)
The Hook-Up Plan – Plan Coeur 2018-2020 -Comedy -3 Seasons- Created by Chris Lang and Noémie Saglio with cast Ryan Colt Levy, Tom Dingler, Joséphine Draï. This is Elsa’s life in Paris and the strong friendship bond between her and her girlfriends. When she breaks up and can not forget her ex., her BFF secretly hires a male escort hoping to help her move on but this hook-up plan takes on an unexpected twist of fate. Also added a special “confinement” episodes. Hum, ok.
emily in paris (2020)
Emily in Paris – 2020 – 1 Season – The new series from the creator of Sex and the City, Darren Star and starring: Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Camille Razat. Emily Cooper is suddenly catapulted from Chicago to Paris to act as a young marketing executive in an established French marketing agency. Read my review here!
the eddy (2020)
The Eddy – 2020 -1 Season – created by Jack Thorne and starring André Holland, Joanna Kulig, Amandla Stenberg. The owner of a Paris jazz club gets tangled up with dangerous criminals as he fights to protect his business, his band and his teenage daughter. Enjoyed the relatonships and story plot and the setting in Paris.
family business (2019-2021)
Family Business – 2019 – Comedy – 2 Seasons- Created by Igor Gotesman with cast Jonathan Cohen, Gérard Darmon, Julia Piaton with a role for Enrico Macias. When Joseph, a down and out entrepreneur, learns that cannabis will be legalized in France, he decides to enlist his family and friends to transform his father’s Kosher butcher shop into the first marijuana coffeeshop in France. This series got funnier by the episode and my favorite character was the grandma.
criminal france (2019)
Criminal France – 2019- Psycho Drama – 1 Season – Created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith with cast Margot Bancilhon, Laurent Lucas, Stéphane Jobert. Set inside a police interview room in Paris, suspects, and investigators face off in an intricate intense dance where secrets emerge and cases unravel with unexpected sometimes bizarre twists. Well done!
le bazar de la charité (2019)
The Bonfire of Destiny – Le bazar de la charité – 2019 – 1 Season- Created by Catherine Ramberg, Karin Spreuzkouski and cast: Audrey Fleurot, Julie de Bona, Camille Lou. Inspired by real events, The Bazar de la Charité was an annual charity event organized by the French Catholic aristocracy in Paris from 1885. The 1897 fire claimed 126 lives. In the series, after this devastating fire, three women find their lives upended by betrayal, deception, and romantic turmoil. Superb acting and plot.
osmosis (2019)
Osmosis – 2019- 1 Season – Sci- Fi – Created by Audrey Fouché and starring Agathe Bonitzer, Hugo Becker, Gaël Kamilindi. In near-future Paris, two brilliant siblings unveil a high-tech implant designed to pair up soul mates. But the beta test yields unwelcome surprises.
black zone – zone blanche (2019)
Black Spot- Zone Blanche – 2019 – 2 Seasons – Thriller- Created by Mathieu Missoffe and starring Suliane Brahim, Hubert Delattre, Laurent Capelluto. A police chief and an eccentric new prosecutor investigate a string of grisly crimes and eerie phenomena in an isolated town at the edge of a forest.
marianne (2019)
Marianne – 2019 – 1 Season – Horror- Created by Samuel Bodin and starring Victoire Du Bois, Lucie Boujenah, Tiphaine Daviot. Lured back to her hometown, a famous horror writer discovers that the evil spirit who plagues her dreams is now wreaking havoc in the real world.
mythomaniac (2019)
Mythomaniac -2019 – 1 Season – Comedy – Created by :Anne Berest, Fabrice Gobert and starring Marina Hands, Mathieu Demy, Marie Drion. Burned out and taken for granted, a working mom suspects her partner is cheating, so to win back his attentions, she feigns a medical diagnosis.
le chalet (2018)
The Chalet – Le Chalet – 2018- Thriller 1 Season – Starring:Chloé Lambert, Philippe Dusseau, Emilie de Preissac. Friends gathered at a remote chalet in the French Alps for a summer getaway are caught in a deadly trap as a dark secret from the past comes to light.
unité 42 (2017)
Unit 42- Unité 42 – 2017 – 1 Season – Created by Charlotte Joulia, Julie Bertrand, Annie Carels and cast Patrick Ridremont, Constance Gay, Tom Audenaert. Inspector Sam Leroy joins Brussels’ Cyber Crime Unit. He is raising his kids on his own. Confronted with new codes, he must collaborate with Billie Vebber, a former hacker who covertly pursues objectives of her own.

transfers (2017)
Transfers – 2017 -1 Season – Thriller- Created by Patrick Benedek, Claude Scasso and starring Arieh Worthalter, Brune Renault, Toinette Laquiere. After a boating accident, woodworker and family man Florian wakes up in the body of an officer who leads a task force against illegal body transfers.
marseille (2016)
Marseille 2016 – Political Drama – 2 Seasons- Starring Gérard Depardieu, Benoît Magimel, and Nadia Farès. “A tale of power, corruption and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the French port city of Marseille.” As a fan of Depardieu I loved this series!
glacé – Frozen dead (2017)
Glacé – The Frozen Dead – 2017 – 1 Season – Crime Drama- Created by Gérard Carré, Caroline Van Ruymbeke, Pascal Chaumeil and starring Charles Berling, Julia Piaton, Pascal Greggory. A grisly find atop a mountain in the French Pyrenees leads investigator Martin Servaz into a twisted dance with a serial killer in this icy thriller.
the break (2016)
The Break – 2016 – 2 Seasons – Thriller- Created by Stéphane Bergmans, Benjamin d’Aoust, Matthieu Donck and starring Yoann Blanc, Guillaume Kerbush, Anne Coesens. A police detective mourning a painful loss moves back to his peaceful hometown, only to be drawn into a murder case that dredges up dark secrets.

Chef’s Table France – 2016 – 1 Season – Food & Travel – Created by David Gelb. Sample the bold new flavors of France with chefs who are pushing the boundaries of fine dining and reinventing a rich culinary tradition. I loved this French Style Chef’s Table.
au service de la france (2015)
A Very Secret Service – Au service de la France – 2015 – 2 Seasons- At the height of the Cold War in 1960, André Merlaux joins the French Secret Service and contends with enemies both foreign and bureaucratic.
