Happy Bastille Day 2022

Today, on July 14th the French celebrate le 14 juillet also called La Fête Nationale! This is the French National Day endearingly known as Bastille Day in the United States commemorating the day when the people of Paris stormed the Bastille prison in 1789 which helped usher in the French Revolution.

All over France there will be dancing and popping champagne in the streets as well as fireworks! In Paris there will be the traditional military parade and the French Air Force know as la Patrouille Acrobatique de France (PAF) or la Patrouille de France aka French Acrobatic Patrol once again honoring this patriotic day with a precision aerobatic demonstration Air Show flying above Paris in Alpha jets over the Arc de Triumph and all over the city sky followed by spectacular fireworks.

In every U.S city, there are also few celebrations in town to toast the 14 juillet. In Dallas, Bishop Arts organizes Bastille on Bishop in the evening from 5-10 PM to enjoy LIVE music while sipping wine and strolling through the Oak Cliff Champs-Élysées. Also check out a more kid-friendly event at Dallas International School this weekend on July 16th from 9-3 PM. There will be a Rosé wine Bar with Gérard Bertrand, crêpes & galettes with Chef Karl and more food vendors, as well as water activities and Lone Star Circus for the kids and Pétanque!

Bastille Day is the perfect time to indulge your taste buds in French cuisine so check out one of the French Bistros, Crêperies, and Restaurants in town who will most likely have a special treat for you tonight! I hear that Chez Fabien adjacent to Main Street Bakery in Grapevine is hosting an all you can eat Moules-Frîtes and Crêpes station!

If you are more in a stay at home mood on this Thursday, what better way to bring out your inner Francophile than with a selection of French cheeses and wines wearing your favorite berêt! 😉 Don’t forget to pick up your baguettes, croissants, and desserts at your local DFW French Bakeries or cuddle up with a glass of Champagne and binge-watch a French series on Netflix. In any event, bring out your inner Frenchie your way!

Allons enfants de la patrie, chantons La Marseillaise!

Bon 14 juillet and cheers to Liberté! Fraternité! Egalité
