27th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival French Spotlight

We are happy to partner with the 27th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival French Spotlight. This year, the featured film presentation is the acclaimed historical drama: De Gaulle: Tilting Iron, also known as La bataille de Gaulle: l’âge de fer. The NBFF festival will showcase over 100 feature films and 250 shorts from 21 countries from October 15th-22nd,2026. The Festival will also host nightly special events, world premieres, award contenders, red carpet galas, and compelling conversations with filmmakers, authors, and artists.

NBFF French Spotlights presents the historical drama De Gaulle: Tilting Iron, La bataille de Gaulle: l’âge de fer, which is a two-part story of how resistance was born against all odds. The second part is entitled De Gaulle: The Sovereign Edge, De Gaulle: Liberté.

Synopsis: A powerful account of Charles de Gaulle’s journey during World War II, from his rise as a military leader to his emergence in French politics between 1940 and 1945. June, 1940. France has fallen. As the nation signs the armistice and surrender seems inevitable, one man refuses to accept defeat. An unknown general escapes to London with no army, no support, no certainty only a belief that France has not yet lost. Charles de Gaulle takes an impossible stand, calling on a scattered and uncertain world to resist. From occupied France to London and across Africa, a fragile resistance movement begins to rise, built on courage, defiance, and the unshakable idea of freedom.
