Even though The Eiffel Tower has been closed to the public due to the pandemic lockdowns, behind the scenes it is using this time for a major makeover and facelift for the 2024 Paris Olympic Summer Games! It will change dress color from the traditional brown since its creation 132 years ago and will reveal a more golden yellow hue that Gustave Eiffel had originally imagined.
Lady Eiffel has worn various colors over the years, from reddish-brown original color in 1889 when it was first presented at the World Exposition to ochre-brown (1892), a variation of 5 shades of yellow over its total height (1899), yellow-brown (1907-1947), reddish-brown (1954-1961) and since 1968, an “Eiffel Tower brown” of three different tones.”

This formidable Dame de Fer standing 1063 feet and weighing 7,300 tons usually gets a makeover every 7 years for maintenance and to protect against the elements and rusting, it has been painted at least 19 times so far and this 60-ton total renovation paint job will cost about 60 million dollars. This major undertaking started during the pandemic in 2019 and is estimated to be completed by 2022.
I remember how beautiful this Iron Lady looked dressed in its shiny disco attire made of 20,000 flashing bulbs for the 2000 Millenium during my last trip to Paris.
