The Rose Parade in Versailles!

Did you know that the original Rose Parade was inspired by the French Rose Festival in Nice ? As I watched on New Year’s day some of the original 1982 broadcast, I was thrilled to see a float with the French influence depicting a scene at the Chateau de Versailles presented by Mission Viejo – This rare image is courtesy of Mission Viejo Library.

Every year the Rose Parade of Pasadena sets the tone for the New Year! This year The 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade- with a never on Sunday policy- hushered 2012 on Monday January 2nd, 2012 with a new theme “Just Imagine…” The floats are meticulously adorned by thousands of volunteer hands with beautiful roses, flowers, grasses and all sorts of seeds and anything natural and organic grown in the States.
