Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau Harvest 2020

Les Vins Georges Duboeuf was founded in the 1960s, but it wasn’t until the 1980s that the brand grew to international recognition when Georges introduced the local Beaujolais Nouveau tradition to a global audience. Though he passed away earlier this year, the legacy that Georges began survives through the dedication of his son Franck. Under his direction, the 2020 vintage is poised to be one of the best in decades.

The exceptional sunshine and high temperatures this year have worked wonders on the grapes, which have produced world-class wines,” said Franck, who is CEO of Les Vins Georges Duboeuf.

Imbued with warmth and harmony, these wines are packed with flavor and rich texture — the perfect antidote to the gray times we’re living in.” Franck Duboeuf @GeorgesDuboeuf #BeaujolaisNouveau2020

Georges Duboeuf’s love affair with Beaujolais is no secret. His legendary palate, his ability to spot great wine and his enthusiasm continue to make him an emblematic figure in the wine industry. His wines are renowned for their consistency, quality, and value. Georges Duboeuf currently works closely with hundreds of winegrowers (over 400 in the Beaujolais region alone) to ensure the highest quality fruit from each region. They are sold in 120 countries throughout the world.

In the US, the most popular Beaujolais Nouveau is George Duboeuf! Georges Duboeuf and family is a premium producer of award-winning French wines from the Beaujolais and Mâconnais regions of Burgundy and the South of France. His company, Les Vins Georges Duboeuf, brings to the market wines renowned for their quality and value. They work closely with hundreds of small family winegrowers to procure the highest quality fruit throughout the region, as well as export many small Chateau and Estate-produced wines that would otherwise not be able to bring their wines to the US.  Les Vins Georges Duboeuf is imported by Quintessential Wines, based in Napa, California.

Since this French wine first came to the U.S. in 1982, Beaujolais Nouveau Day has been an annual celebration to honor the end of harvest and offer the first taste of the new vintage.  Released at 12:01 a.m. on the third Thursday in November per French law, Beaujolais Nouveau is a bright, flavorful red wine made from the Gamay grape.

Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau complements an abundance of holiday dishes, from savory roasts to cranberry sauce. Serve this year’s Nouveau between 62°F – 66°F, which is just slightly cooler than room temperature, to enhance the aromas and fruit flavors.

[The spotlight is on the quality of the 2015 vintage:  Having tasted and analyzed thousands of samples, Georges Duboeuf and his winemaking team believes that 2015 Beaujolais Nouveau will be one of the best they’ve ever produced. “Thanks to an extremely early harvest and blazing sunshine throughout the summer, our grapes have obtained perfect maturity this year,” said winemaker Georges Duboeuf.  “This is why we believe that 2015 is such a special year and can compete with 1947, 1976, 2005 and 2009 – maybe even surpassing them.”

The 2015 vintage is predicted to be one of the all-time greats.  The color is a deep red with tones of purple and garnet, and the nose offers a magnificent array of black current, blackberry, and blueberry.  The wine is round, full-bodied with a long finish.]

Each year, Georges Duboeuf unveils a new wine label created by an artist. The 2015 label depicts the lush Beaujolais vineyards and bright, celebratory colors of the harvest.

Georges Duboeuf’s Beaujolais Nouveau -2011

Beaujolais Nouveau 2011  mis en bouteille par les Vins Georges Duboeuf is  officially “bu & approuvé!”  by me and my chéri!  This year it delivers and  it’s all what the label says: “Beaujolais Nouveau 2011 is here and it’s good!  Refreshing, fruity, and perfectly balanced  Beaujolais nouveau is best served chilled with friends!  The wine is youthful, lively, distinctive and fun. “

Trader Joe’s has limited quantities for $8.99 a bottle.

Love the label artwork created by NY artist Mr. Kaves to celebrate its release which makes a festive  statement.
