TIP: Also remember to stuff your suitcases with bags of Carambars and other goodies on your next trip to France

A little background history courtesy of Wiki:  “In 1954, Mr. Fauchille, director of the Delespaul-Havez company, and Mr. Galois an employee had a surplus of cocoa and decided to create a new, original recipe to use up the cocoa. The legend says that one of the machines in the factory was malfunctioning which created quite by accident the long caramel bars that still exist today. This candy, in the form of a long stick or bar, was christened “Caram’bar.”

Today, Carambars come in a variety of flavors from strawberry, lemon, tutty fruity to tropical coconut,  but my French taste buds are faithful to the original gooey caramel reminiscent of my childhood days! What’s your favorite flavor?

Did you know? Inside each wrapper of a Carambar candy is a silly little nonsense French joke, an actually very witty French wordplay, or Blague Carambar.
