LILA WELCOMES NEW HEAD OF SCHOOL!

“The LILA core values resonate with me both professionally and personally,” he says. “The pursuit of Academic Excellence, Cultural Diversity and Mutual Respect has underpinned and characterized all aspects of my life….Beyond its academic face, I love the open, community-minded dimension of the school. We know that we are preparing students for an unknown future; one in which their intellectual capabilities will need to be matched by respectful behaviors, an interest in the well-being of others and a well-considered ethical platform. What really impressed me about LILA was this very meeting of worlds.”

Like many LILA students, Michael grew up as a “Third Culture Kid”, born into an immigrant Greek family in Australia. He is fully bilingual in English and French, holds a Master’s degree in French, and is proficient in Italian and Greek. He comes to LILA from serving as Head of School at the International Grammar School in Sydney. Prior to that, Michael served as Head of School of Telopea Park School/Le Lycée Franco Australien de Canberra where he worked extensively with the International baccalaureate Diploma program and implemented the French Baccalauréat and Brevet, all programs which are offered at LILA.

“We live in culturally diverse times and it is a great affirmation of the school’s commitment to Cultural Diversity that LILA’s next Head of School is Australian”, Michael says. “I hope to blend the best of my culture(s) with the best of LILA’s”.

Bienvenue & a warm welcome to LILA’s new Head of School Michael Maniska!
