Julia Kantor is a singer and performer originally from the Ukraine, but she was born to sing in French! She lived and studied in France and discovered in French music a soulful resonance that continues to infuse her performances with a deeply felt authenticity. Her warm vocals and passionate delivery have captivated audiences for years.
Together with her husband, Jacob, a Russian-born singer/songwriter, she has appeared at clubs and festivals all over Los Angeles. They began singing on their first date and have continued ever since!
Julia recently sang on a French children’s album soon to be released through Habla Blah Blah. She organizes and performs at a regular evening of French music in Venice called “Paris at the Sophos Cafe.” Hundreds of Francophones from all over LA have attended and been transported by her rendition of the beautiful songs of Piaf, Aznavour, Brel, Dassin, as well as more contemporary artists like Maurane and Zaz.
